Hometown Pediatric Dermatology

Welcome to Hometown Pediatric Dermatology

Dr. Asch is here with telemedicine visits for your pediatric, adolescent, and young adult dermatology needs. Dr. Asch offers clear and easy pricing, and accessible, approachable primarily virtual visits. You provide clear, well-lit photos of the skin problem, and the story behind it to Dr. Asch – an expert who can help, and together you will make a plan to get on the path back to comfortable, healthy skin.

Simply fill out the short Q&A form and I will be in contact with you shortly.

“Direct Specialty Care” is a newer term used for this old way of doing business, where doctors take care of their patients, without a traditional clinic, staff and insurance companies.

No memberships, no hidden fees, no surprise bills.

If our plan at the end of the first visit is to start isotretinoin, this cost is applied to the course.

I typically check back in to make sure our first plan is going well via your “exam room” link within the first 4 weeks after a new patient appointment. If we need a change in our plan of care, or more significant discussion, or it has been more than a month, we would plan a follow up visit.

For some follow up patients, e-visits are appropriate. These consist of sending photos and a brief text message to Dr. Asch. These work for follow ups that require brief assessments prior to action. Sometimes appropriate for sibling care. Please feel free to ask if this is appropriate for your child.

This plan covers ALL of Dr. Asch’s appointments with you for a single isotretinoin course for acne. Most courses take 6-9 months to complete, but some take longer. Pricing is similar to how orthodontists bill for braces, one cost = all visits for whole course. Limit 2 years from first isotretinoin start appointment. It DOES NOT includes medications or laboratory costs, which are typically covered by insurance. Transfer of care pricing can be discussed. Single appointments for second opinion or similar priced as new visits.

Dr. Asch can generate a bill to submit to your insurance. It takes extra work and time to do it, therefore the extra cost. Dr. Asch is currently out of network for all insurance.

$25 for first simple electronic appeals if available to me, $100 for significant appeals that require investigation into the process, faxing or forms to fill out, $200 for letters or peer-to-peer review. These costs will be discussed prior to Dr. Asch pursuing each prior authorization step.

Many medications are available more affordably via www.GoodRx.com or other pharmacies.

It’s like an old-fashioned doctor’s “house call,” but using modern technology of cameras and video calls. A virtual house call. You provide clear, well-lit photographs of the skin problem and the story behind it to me, an expert who can help. THAT is high-quality teledermatology.

Note: If Dr. Asch determines that your child needs an in-person evaluation, options will be discussed.

Dr. Asch is a pretty nice person. This is Minnesota, so she wouldn’t want to brag about herself. Turns out, doctors are just regular ol’ people who like solving particular types of problems. But you can learn a little more about her 2 awesome kids, supportive hubby, pets, hobbies, fun car and various other “real person” things, including that her favorite holiday to work on is Halloween. And, good doctors are usually giant nerds…and so she leans into her nerd-vibe, with occasional sprinkles of “cool” on top.

Step 1

Click the “schedule appointment” button.

With name and phone number you will send a direct, secure text to Dr. Asch. You can send a brief summary of the problem and a couple of photos.

If she cannot assist via video, she will tell you then – saving you time and money.

Step 2

If Dr. Asch can help, you will schedule a video appointment; your “house call”. If you are not able to do video, she can sometimes combine photos with a phone call.

You will then get a link to fill out the consent forms and provide payment to confirm the appointment.

Step 3

See you at the appointment!

Phone interpreting can be arranged ahead of time for appointments.

Secure texts, no portals, low-bandwidth friendly, straight to your doctor.

Have some more questions?

You can still use your insurance for medications.

You can use your preferred pharmacy.

Prescriptions are sent electronically.

Easy peasy.

Medications in dermatology treatment are often used “off-label”, as many dermatologic conditions do not have medications that are FDA approved for THAT condition.  This practice is legal and common. In fact, one in five prescriptions written today are for off-label use.  Off-label medications are used when there might not be an approved drug to treat your disease or medical condition, or you may have tried all approved treatments without seeing any benefits.
