Bringing Pediatric Dermatology Home to You.

High-quality, accessible, pediatric and young adult teledermatology

Serving patients in: Iowa, Idaho, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Utah, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

Minnesota is my home base.

  • Approachable, high-quality pediatric speciality care.

I am using modern technology to get back to basics: The doctor, the patient and the skin problem.

I want the medical care I provide to be understandable, friendly and affordable.

  • It’s like an old-fashioned doctor’s “house call”, but using modern technology of cameras and video calls. A virtual house call.

You provide clear, well-lit photographs of the skin problem and the story behind it to me, an expert who can help.

    THAT is high-quality teledermatology.

Note: If Dr. Asch determines that your child needs an in-person evaluation, options will be discussed.

  • Step 1: Click the “request appointment” button.

With name and phone number you will send a direct, secure text to Dr. Asch. You can send a brief summary of the problem and a couple of photos.

If she cannot assist via video, she will tell you then - saving you time and money.

Step 2: If Dr. Asch can help, you will schedule a video appointment; your “house call”. If you are not able to do video, she can sometimes combine photos with a phone call.

You will then get a link to fill out the consent forms and provide payment to confirm the appointment.

Step 3: See you at the appointment!

    — Phone interpreting can be arranged ahead of time for appointments.

Secure texts, no portals, low bandwidth friendly, straight to your doctor.

  • “Direct Specialty Care” is a newer term used for this old way of doing business, where doctors take care of their patients, without an insurance middle man. No memberships, no hidden fees.

Prices are below. No surprise bills.

Payment due prior to appointment. Credit cards and ACH accepted.

Sliding scale available for families making less than $100,000 per year. Ask Dr. Asch about this option if needed.

Dr. Asch will NOT bill your insurance and is out of network for all insurance companies. You can still submit an “out of network” bill to your insurance for the appointment. There is an additional cost to generate the bill.

Dr. Asch has simplified her practice, now has increased access and lowered the cost to see a specialist by leaving behind the traditional clinic, staff and insurance companies.

Medicaid patients: I accept straight Minnesota Medicaid, no managed plans.

  • You can still use your insurance for medications.

You can use your preferred pharmacy.

    Prescriptions are sent electronically.

Fax 651-369-6070 with contact information for the family. Please make family aware that I will reach out to make an appointment via text.

  • Maybe someday….

Sometimes teledermatology isn’t the whole answer. Sometimes you have to be physically in the same place as your doctor, such as for procedures or when a full skin exam from scalp to toes is critical.

Dr. Asch will help decide with you if that is what your child needs.

Someday, she hopes to shorten the distance between her clinic and your child with the “COW”, a Clinic On Wheels, which will be a custom trailer with clinic rooms inside.

She will bring her clinic to areas that are closer to you and your family. She will not always be across town or in another state. There are only about 400 practicing pediatric dermatologists in the U.S., which means many people do not live near one, so you are not alone!

Pricing: Simple, transparent, Honest.

Payment due prior to appointment. Credit cards and ACH accepted. Use your HSA.

If these costs present a financial barrier to care for your child to access care, please contact me. Sliding scale available upon request.

  • If our plan at the end of the first visit is to start isotretinoin, this cost is applied to the course.

  • I typically check back in to make sure our first plan is going well via your “exam room” link within the first 4 weeks after a new patient appointment. If we need a change in our plan of care, or more significant discussion, or it has been more than a month, we would plan a follow up visit.

  • For some follow up patients, e-visits are appropriate. These consist of sending photos and a brief text message to Dr. Asch.

These work for follow ups that require brief assessments prior to action. Sometimes appropriate for sibling care.

Please feel free to ask if this is appropriate for your child.

  • This plan covers ALL of Dr. Asch’s appointments with you for a single isotretinoin course for acne. Most courses take 6-9 months to complete, but some take longer. Pricing is similar to how orthodontists bill for braces, one cost = all visits for whole course. Limit 2 years from first isotretinoin start appointment. It DOES NOT includes medications or laboratory costs, which are typically covered by insurance.

Transfer of care pricing can be discussed. Single appointments for second opinion or similar priced as new visits.

  • Dr. Asch can generate a bill to submit to your insurance. It takes extra work and time to do it, therefore the extra cost. Dr. Asch is currently out of network for all insurance.

  • $25 for first simple electronic appeals if available to me, $100 for significant appeals that require investigation into the process, faxing or forms to fill out, $200 for letters or peer-to-peer review. These costs will be discussed prior to Dr. Asch pursuing each prior authorization step.

Many medications are available more affordably via www.GoodRx.com or other pharmacies.
